Building Control
Building Control service is a multi-disciplinary technical team that ensures the delivery of high quality, cost-effective, customer focused services which meet the Council’s statutory responsibilities and contribute to the delivery of the Council’s Plan. Building control and building regulations mainly deal with how buildings are constructed, a building’s structural stability, fire precautions and escape, weather resistance, energy conservation, sound insulation, and facilities for people with disabilities.
The Head of Building Control is the Council’s principal advisor for the professional matters which are the responsibility of Building Control. The Head of Building Control contributes to the overall management of planning and development, including providing necessary professional input to the corporate planning, management and decision making processes, and representing the borough in matters relating to Building Control to stakeholders and partners outside the Council.
